As all of us welcome students back to the 2026 school year, Cecil Hills High School had a special sense of pride with the official opening of the school's long-awaited upgrade. It was a pleasure to join Premier Chris Minns, Minister Courtney Houssos from the other place, and our fantastic Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Prue Car at her first engagement back, as students, staff and families marked the start of the school year together. The new facilities include 50 modern learning spaces with a strong focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics, new sports courts, an upgraded hall and a canteen extension. This will support both learning and wellbeing for years to come. I want to particularly recognise the leadership team at Cecil Hills High School, who represented their school with confidence, warmth and professionalism when welcoming guests on the day. Thank you to Davina Kong, Daniel Silmi, Tijana Bozovic, Marko Sikman, Amara Mammone, Abathur Nazoraia, Rhys Truong, Ghena Mandi, Paige Tran, and Kareem Abualfoul. Every year the SRC at Cecil Hills continues to raise the bar, and I know that the Premier, Deputy Premier and Minister Houssos were very impressed with them.
