Gulyangarri Public School

Walk Safely to School Day delivers a vital message to students, families and the wider community about the importance of road safety. It was wonderful to join the Minister Jenny Aitchison, alongside students from Gulyangarri Public School for this important national event. The enthusiasm and energy shown by the students highlighted just how valuable initiatives like this are in building safer and healthier communities. For Gulyangarri Public School, the message of Walk Safely to School Day is especially significant. Located on the edge of Liverpool's busy CBD, the school is surrounded by increasing traffic, busy intersections and rapidly growing neighbourhoods. Teaching children safe road habits from an early age is essential to ensuring they can travel confidently and safely within our community. Beyond road safety, Walk Safely to School Day also promotes healthy lifestyles, independence and confidence in young people. It encourages families to think differently about how we move around our local area and reinforces the importance of creating safer, more connected streets for everyone. I thank the staff, students and families of Gulyangarri Public School for leading by example and helping make our community safer, healthier and stronger for future generations.
