Liverpool is a strong and proud healthcare town. Attending the recent opening of the Handle with Care: Looking After Liverpool exhibition at the Liverpool Regional Museum was a powerful reminder of the depth of our local history. The exhibition beautifully catalogues the evolution of health care in Liverpool, tracing the story of how people, organisations and institutions have worked tirelessly over generations to care for our community. The curated displays, historical artefacts and personal stories chart Liverpool's origins from a tent hospital servicing the fourth oldest colonial settlement in Australia to the site of a major health and academic precinct today. It is a testament to the compassion, commitment and innovation that have defined health care in our region. It was a pleasure to experience an exhibition that not only honours the past but also deepens our appreciation for the people who have always placed community wellbeing at the centre of their work. I invite people to experience Handle with Care and the various guest presentations that form part of the exhibition, which is on until 5 September.
