"If you are going to get anywhere in life you have to read a lot of books." Those words from Roald Dahl capture the spirit of the wonderful Story Time Reading Program at Hinchinbrook Public School. I recognise the dedicated year 5 and year 6 student tutors Mona, Bella, Zaineb, Mana, Soukynah, Dana, Zainab, Christina, Helen, Angelina, Cinderella, Francisca, Jana, Shanaya, Sarah, Melia, Veronica, Cedra and Amelia, who generously spend part of their lunch breaks reading with younger students from kindergarten to year 2. Their kindness, patience and enthusiasm have helped create a welcoming space where younger students can build confidence, develop a love of reading and form meaningful friendships with older peers. I also acknowledge Mrs Petersen, Mrs Nguyen and Miss William, whose dedication and support make this program possible. The Story Time Reading Program is a beautiful example of leadership, community spirit and the lasting power of books to bring people together. The tutors' efforts are valued and make a real difference. I congratulate them on a job well done.
