In south-west Sydney language is an important bridge between generations and experiences, forming the basis of connection and a sense of belonging that is so crucial in our current world. Recently, Lao Oz Incorporated marked the remarkable achievement of delivering 15 years of service, culture and community. It used that anniversary as an opportunity to make a difference, hosting a vibrant fundraising event that featured a showcase of various Lao ethnic costumes. The funds raised will help the Lao Oz Language and Culture School continue its important work, as well as projects in both Laos and Australia. I congratulate president Vicky Rattanavong, vice-president Lorenza Blumenthal, secretary Rob Blumenthal and treasurer and cultural coordinator Vonevaly Vongthevanh on all their valuable efforts. I also recognise the incredible volunteers, board members, students, models, generous sponsors and committee members whose hard work behind the scenes brought the evening to life. I congratulate Lao Oz on a wonderful milestone and look forward to seeing the Lao Oz community shine even brighter.
