Liverpool is a community shaped by the contributions of those who step up to support others. I want to acknowledge the Under 11s from the Liverpool City Cougars Junior Rugby Union Club, who recently gave back by joining the Shining Stars Foundation's Dinner Service at Bigge Park. Shining Stars is an outreach service to provide community assistance for rough sleepers and those in need. They provide blankets, clothing, hot meals, groceries, and daily hygiene and living needs, as well as connections to other supports. These young Cougars didn't just lend a hand. They brought compassion, energy and the true spirit of rugby union with them. They showed us that being part of this sport is about more than just what happens on the field. It is about standing for something bigger, lifting others up, and leading with heart. Their efforts reflect the best of our community. They remind us all that strength isn't only shown through tackles and tries, but through kindness and service. To the Cougars U11s, their coaches and families, thank you. You have made Liverpool proud and reminded us what community looks like in action.
