Speaker, many would not know this but the birthplace of the Australian wine industry is not the Hunter Valley, it's actually Green Valley in Liverpool. When James Busby, widely regarded as the father of Australian wine, first brought vine cuttings from Europe, he planted them around Liverpool. Given our history, I'm very pleased to share with the House that Liverpool finally has a Food and Wine Expo! I congratulate the Canterbury-Bankstown Chamber of Commerce for hosting the event at The William Inglis in Warwick Farm. The event brought together food lovers, local artisans, and small businesses to showcase the incredible flavours and creativity of South West Sydney. From food trucks and bakers to spice makers and winemakers, it was an opportunity for our community to discover new tastes, connect with local producers, and celebrate our region's heritage and diversity. With live entertainment, tastings, and family-friendly activities, the Expo became a vibrant celebration. I extended my sincere thanks to the Canterbury-Bankstown Chamber of Commerce, The William Inglis team, and Liverpool Council for their collaboration in delivering such an engaging event that highlighted the people, products, and partnerships that continue to make our region thrive.
