I have often spoken about the importance of activities and programs to engage young people in our community. I was so pleased to attend the Victory Youth Group's 3v3 Basketball Competition, an exciting and energetic tournament that brought more than 300 people together. The competition showcased Liverpool's deep love for sport and the importance of strong grassroots foundations in keeping young people active, connected and supported. The level of enthusiasm on the court and in the crowd was a reminder of how powerful community driven sport can be in building confidence, teamwork and resilience. This event was delivered in collaboration with Unisocial Australia, an organisation that plays a vital role in supporting disadvantaged communities across our LGA. Their partnership ensured the competition was not only a sporting success but also an inclusive and meaningful opportunity for young people who benefit most from positive engagement. I congratulate the Victory Youth Group, Unisocial Australia, the volunteers and every young person who took part. Their commitment to creating safe, supportive and inspiring spaces for youth is something our whole community can be proud of, and I look forward to seeing this competition continue to grow in the years ahead.
